In Their Hands explores how identity can be expressed without revealing the face — through the objects we hold, and the hands that hold them.

Drawing inspiration from the work of Jason Travis, Mark Menjivar, and François Robert, this project considers how personal belongings become extensions of self — hinting at memory, personality, and private worlds.

This approach raised a question: can we understand someone — even just a little — by what they choose to hold, and how they choose to hold it?

Shot in a consistent studio setup with fixed lighting and camera settings, each subject was invited to bring an item of significance and arrange their hands freely. The results are varied, unpredictable, and quietly intimate.

These photographs turn hands into visual signatures — hinting at stories without telling them outright, and revealing identity not in faces, but in gestures, textures, and treasured objects.
